Frequently Asked Questions

The first step is to schedule a tour to visit MunchkinLand and learn more about our programs. To enroll, families will need to complete a registration packet and submit the registration fee. Enrollment is based on current availability, and we’ll provide the next steps once a spot is confirmed. 

MunchkinLand is open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Families are welcome to drop off their child at any time during our operating hours based on their child’s schedule. We are closed on all major holidays and follow Washoe County School District closures when applicable. 

Our classrooms are intentionally kept small to create a more comfortable, connected learning environment. Our Toddler classroom has a maximum of 10 children, while our Pre-K program welcomes up to 20 children per day with two teachers. 

Our curriculum is child-centered and play-based, with a new theme each week to keep learning fresh and engaging. Children explore through stories, songs, process art, sensory activities, early literacy and math concepts, movement, and hands-on experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and growing independence. 

We understand that starting preschool is a big transition for both children and families. Our teachers build relationships, introduce routines gradually, and provide plenty of reassurance and encouragement as children become comfortable in their new environment. We work closely with families to help make the transition as smooth as possible. 

We do not provide meals or snacks. Families send their child’s food and drinks each day, and we ask that everything be clearly labeled with your child’s name. MunchkinLand is also a nut-free preschool, so we ask families to please avoid sending foods containing nuts. 

Children in our toddler program may still be in diapers, and our teachers are happy to assist families with potty-training process. Families must provide diapers, wipes, and any other changing supplies their child needs. However, children must be fully potty trained before entering our Pre-K classroom.

Families should bring a crib sheet and blanket, weather-appropriate extra clothing, a water bottle, and their child’s snacks and lunch. Each child has their own cubby for personal belongings, and everything should be clearly labeled with your child’s name. 

We use positive guidance to help children understand their emotions, make positive choices, and learn appropriate ways to interact with others. We do not use traditional time-outs; instead, our teachers provide support, redirection, and guidance to help children work through challenging moments. 

We believe open communication with families is an important part of your child’s experience. From everyday conversations at drop-off and pick-up to updates through ClassDojo, we make it easy for families to stay in the loop. Our doors are always open, and families are welcome to call or stop by anytime to check in, ask questions, or see how their child is doing.

At MunchkinLand, we want every child and family to feel welcome, respected, and like they belong. Our teachers get to know each child as an individual and provide support based on their unique needs, interests, and learning styles. We also invite families to share their cultures, customs, traditions, and experiences, creating opportunities for children to learn about and appreciate the diverse world around them.  

MunchkinLand follows Nevada’s requirements for immunizations and exemptions. Families will need to provide the appropriate immunization records or required exemption documentation as part of the enrollment process.
